"NO ONE IS ABOVE THE LAW"

Today's Daily Action is to call both of your Senators to demand that Sessions resign as Attorney General. Forget whatever Donald Trump said about draining the swamp. What's becoming abundantly clear is that if you're wealthy donor or a former Senator or part of the Trump Administration, then you don't have to follow the law. You don't have to be ethical. You don't have to tell the truth. You don't have to be qualified. You don't have to pay your taxes. You don't even have to be a patriot. Because Congress will give you every benefit of the doubt.

If one of us did what Sessions did, we would be charged with perjury for blatantly lying under oath. And imagine if Eric Holder or Loretta Lynch had done such a thing! But because it's Sessions, hardly any Senators are willing to tell the truth: Sessions lied under oath and therefore must resign as Attorney General. Call your Senators and tell them to stand up for the rule of law and for basic fairness. If we have to follow the law, then they have to follow the law. Sessions must resign and his statements under oath must be investigated.

"No one is above the law"--as Sessions himself said in an extensive explanation of why our laws against perjury must be enforced regardless of the political ramifications.

Sample script: "Hi, this is X calling from Y. Jeff Session once said of Bill Clinton that 'no one is above the law.' Why then is he being allowed to stay on as Attorney General when he has broken the law? Recusal is a good first step, but tell the Senator to do the right thing and call for his resignation. Because Sessions was right about one thing: This is America, and no one is above the law."

Late last night, America learned that our Attorney General apparently perjured himself during his Senate confirmation hearing. When he told the Senate that he didn't have any meetings with the Russians during the campaign, Jefferson Sessions lied under oath. In fact, he met Putin's Ambassador to the US at least twice. He now says that didn't count as a meeting with the Russians.

Our Senators must demand that a Special Prosecutor is named at the Justice Department because Sessions cannot investigate himself and, frankly, should resign. The time has also come for the Senate to create a bipartisan, independent Select Committee with the resources and expertise to properly investigate all of Putin's attempts to influence our electoral process and government-- because they cannot do this job through their regular committees.

Consider this: Jeff Sessions is now the FOURTH TRUMP APPOINTEE to lie under oath during a Senate hearing, get away with apparent perjury, and still get confirmed:
1) Steve Mnuchin lied under oath about his bank not robo-signing mortgages while he was CEO.
2) Tom Price lied under oath about his insider trading in health care stocks while he was in Congress.
3) Scott Pruitt lied under oath about his use of a personal email account for his work emails as Oklahoma's Attorney General.
4) And now, perhaps most egregiously of all, Jeff Sessions lied under oath about meeting with Russians during the campaign.

With a confirmation record like this, how can we trust the Senate to connect the dots on Vladimir Putin and his professional spies, blackmailers, propagandists, and murderers?

An independent bipartisan Select Committee investigation like the 9/11 commission is necessary because Vladimir Putin poses a grave national security threat to the United States.

Please make the time to call both of your Senators and tell them to take this seriously, to move quickly, and to put country ahead of party and ahead of committee jurisdiction turf battles.

Here's a sample script: "Hi, my name is X and I am calling from Y. I am calling to urge Senator Z to put country over party and demand that a special prosecutor be named at the Justice Department to investigate the Trump campaign's ties to Russia. The Senator must also push for a bipartisan, independent Select Committee to investigate all of Putin's attempts to influence our electoral process and government."

My response to Trump's speech last night

So Trump refrained from acting like a fool, he made himself seem less insane for one night and now he's presidential? no, he's still destroying all progress made in 20th century,He laid it out rationally, Euphemisms and all euphemisms and all.So he can seem rational but he sill pushes the same insane agenda.

That is just his good cop/ bad cop negotiation style. He's schizophrenic so he plays both parts. He also proposed an office of propaganda to make false accusations against illegal aliens,

Don't be taken in.

Hedge fund billionaire Robert Mercer and Trump strategist Steve Bannon have been working with Cambridge Analytica to change the way Americans think. Their strategy includes:

1. A database of almost the entire US voting population, showing, on the basis of their Twitter and Facebook accounts, what motivates each person.

2. Automated “bots” programmed on Twitter to act like people, to change the conversation, and to make topics trend. Before the U.S. election, such bots were five-to-one in favor of Trump.

3. Artificial intelligence that can measure every reaction to every word uttered, and hone messages to maximize their impact.

4. Eventually replacing existing media with sites such as Breitbart and with websites that displace mainstream sources of news and information, like CNSnews.com. Rightwing sites are already dominating sites like YouTube and Google, bound tightly together by millions of links.

5. Using supercomputers to dig up source material Google can’t find. This, Bannon explained, is how they “weaponise” the narrative they want, launching it straight on to the front page of the mainstream media, and diverting the attention of the news cycle.

6. “Strategic drowning” of other messages with the right timing and focus of controversial messages. With the rest of the media cattered, separate, and competing with each other, they can be being picked off like targets in a shooting gallery.

“Politics is war,” said Steve Bannon last year in the Wall Street Journal. And increasingly this looks to be true.

We must fight back. But if we use the same high-tech tools, what happens to the truth? To democracy?

Wake up. 

Brush teeth. 

Walk dog (or stare at cat).

Call Congress.

It is impossible to overstate just how much power you have by making this simple, quick DAILY CALL. I know from firsthand experience the impact it has. These politicians freak out if they get just 10 calls on an issue. Imagine them getting 10,000! Holy crap - the dome will pop off that building!

NOTE: if you’re saying to yourself, “I don’t need to call because my rep is a Democrat!” ― that is NOT true. They need to hear from you. They need to know they have your support. Don’t believe it? Our beloved Sen. Elizabeth Warren voted in favor of Ben Carson as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development! I’m sure no one in Massachusetts thought they had to call her. YOU DO! She and the other Dems need to hear from the boss ― YOU! They work for us ― and what boss doesn’t have daily contact with his or her employees?

Here’s what a sample week of your DAILY CALL can look like:

On Monday, call your Congressman/woman and tell them you do not want them to repeal Obamacare. In fact, you want them to improve it so that we have single-payer universal health care like all other “civilized” countries.

On Tuesday, call the first of your two U.S. Senators and tell him to vote NO on Rick Perry for Secretary of Energy. He couldn’t even remember there was a Department of Energy - or what it did!

On Wednesday, call your other U.S. Senator. Demand she do everything in her power to block the appointment of Neil Gorsuch to the U.S. Supreme Court.

On Thursday, call your local State House/Assembly representative in your state capital. Tell her you want the House to vote for legislation that prohibits the incarceration of nonviolent drug users.

On Friday, call your State Senator. Tell him you want him to support all efforts to reduce those activities which cause climate change.

The devastating impersonation of White House spokesman Sean Spicer by McCarthy has Trump fuming to the point where he has considered getting rid of Spicer. The firing of Flynn has revived the Russian connection. Here are a few articles that sum up the connections and what we know about then so far, It is accepted beyond question by American intelligence that the Dems were hacked by the Russians and that Putin tired to influence the election, While sticking Trump with knowingly participating is still somewhat conjectural it is not a secret that Putin actively wanted Trump to win and they tired to alter the result, so Trump would win, There is evidence that Trump had motives to act. Just how many probes are going and which one's these articles will help clarify, Trump was the recipient of Russian favor in winning the election,weather or if he participated in some kind of organized plot would mean he had more complicity in plotting with the campaign strategy and a coordinated effort.What I don't see happening now is an investigation to link the FBI to Putin since Comey;s trick with the emails sot Hillary the election. Driving Wednesday's events was a New York Times report that people close to Trump — including campaign aides and other associates — had spoken to Russian intelligence operatives during the campaign. The report cited current and former law enforcement and intelligence officials, all anonymous. It's unclear what they spoke about or even if the Trump associates knew they were speaking to Russian agents, whose calls were being monitored as part of routine counterintelligence surveillance.

The story also made clear that officials had seen "no evidence" of a coordinated attempt to interfere with the presidential election.

But the New York Times report is significant both because it expands both the time frame of Russian contacts and the circle of those involved. Specifically named: Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign chairman.

Mr. Trump repeatedly sought business in Russia as far back as 1987, when he traveled there to explore building a hotel. He applied for his trademark in the country as early as 1996. And his children and associates have appeared in Moscow over and over in search of joint ventures, meeting with developers and government officials.

During a trip in 2006, Mr. Sater and two of Mr. Trump’s children, Donald Jr. and Ivanka, stayed at the historic Hotel National Moscow opposite the Kremlin, connecting with potential partners over the course of several days.

As recently as 2013, Mr. Trump himself was in Moscow. He had sold Russian real estate developers the right to host his Miss Universe pageant that year, and he used the visit as a chance to discuss development deals, writing on Twitter at the time: “TRUMP TOWER-MOSCOW is next.”
